Founder
When I was a child, I often helped my mom in the kitchen since we couldn’t afford to eat out. These moments sparked my interest in cooking and inspired me to pursue a certificate and diploma in Professional Cookery.
After graduating, I worked in various restaurants and hotels, eventually discovering my passion for pastry while working at The Mount Nelson Hotel. This newfound love for pastry motivated me to refine my skills and eventually start my own business, Baked Sugar, from my mom’s kitchen.
What began with a simple batch of red velvet cupcakes quickly grew, thanks to the positive feedback and encouragement from my customers. Despite the challenges, I took a leap of faith and poured my time and effort into building a business I’m truly proud of.
My ultimate goal has always been to create a business run by strong women of color, and I’m honored to be part of an incredible community of female business owners.
Lameesah
Bookeeper | Financial Advisor
Lameesah, our dedicated bookkeeper and financial advisor. Since joining the Baked Sugar team in 2021, she has played a pivotal role in ensuring our business runs smoothly, efficiently, and ethically.
More than just a team member, Lameesah has been a trusted friend, offering invaluable advice on many significant decisions. Her genuine care and love for the Baked Sugar brand mirror our own, and her visits always bring a calming energy to the shop.
Lameesah’s unwavering support and guidance have inspired us to continually strive for what’s best for the business. She truly is an irreplaceable part of the Baked Sugar family.

Housekeeping
Introducing Portia, our amazing housekeeper who joined the Baked Sugar team in June 2022. Portia ensures that our shop remains spotless, allowing us to fulfill your orders in a clean and safe environment.
Having Portia as part of our team has been an absolute blessing. Her warmth, tireless dedication, and infectious smile light up our kitchen every day. She works behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly, and we truly couldn’t do what we do without her.
Portia’s hard work and kind heart mean the world to us, and we’re so grateful to have her as a cherished member of the Baked Sugar family.
Ghaniya
Chief of Operations | Administrator
Introducing our administrator, customer relations expert, chief of operations, and most importantly my sister, Ghaniya. Many people don’t realize that Ghaniya has been part of Baked Sugar since its very beginning, working tirelessly in the background as my unwavering support and loyal confidante.
Ghaniya manages all the day-to-day administrative tasks required to keep things running smoothly for you, our valued customers. She truly is the heart of Baked Sugar, and the shop simply couldn’t function without her.
With a background in public relations, media, and administration, Ghaniya brings a unique perspective to the business. Her friendly welcome, bubbly personality, innovative strategies, and steady presence have been invaluable to our success.
